Trip Itinerary:
Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – Rose Valley – Dades Gorge
After breakfast, we leave Marrakech through the beautiful Atlas Mountains and the Tichka Pass (2260 m), offering an impressive landscape in the heart of the Atlas Mountains in Ouarzazate where many films were shot as Alexander the Great , The Mummy, the Diamond of the Nile, Kingdom of Heaven Etc …
the landscape is absolutely beautiful. We stop at the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou one of the most spectacular fortresses in southern Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lunch in Ouarzazate “Hollywood of Africa”. We continue our journey to the valley of roses known for its annual festival during the harvest roses in May of each year. Spend the night with dinner in the Dades Valley.A side trip to the Ighouliden waterfalls is available after lunch.
Overnight in Tizi Oussem (Berber House)
Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes
After breakfast, we will continue to the Todra Gorge where many climbers come to practice their favorite sport. Later, we continue our journey, following the old Bedouin parallel trade routes with the Middle Atlas, passing a series of fortified villages with an exceptional pre-Saharan architecture.
The road to Erfoud is one of the most pleasant of all the roads of the South. The city was built by the French as a city of central administration, it is known for its wealth of marble black fossils. We head for the spectacular dunes of Merzouga where the sand dunes signify the beginning of the mighty Sahara Desert. We leave our vehicle and ride camels in the desertdirection Berber camp … an experience of a lifetime!
After dinner, we will gather around a fire and enjoy the night in the desert with an atmosphere of traditional Berber drums and songs.
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Draa Valley – Zagora
Wake up early before dawn to enjoy the sunrise from the dune of the Sahara Desert. Return to the hotel by camels. Shower and breakfast. Then departure for Rissani and visit of the city considered the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty which focuses mainly on its market considered the most important in the south, where many nomads come to shop. We will leave the desert and cross the fascinating arid landscapes up to the Draa Valley where we will make several stops to enjoy the longest valley in Morocco rich in the production of dates.
Continue our road to Zagora, the current administrative center of the region where the caravans traveled to Timbuktu for a long journey that lasted 52 days from here. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Zagora – Tamgeroute – Mhamid – Erg Chegaga
After breakfast, we head to Tamgerout to visit the famous Koranic Library, underground kasbah and pottery making. Then continue towards Mhamid for lunch on the square. In the afternoon, drive an optional camel ride before taking a wide road that leads through the desert and rocky landscapes to Chigaga sand dunes that spread more than 40 km.
You will enjoy the sunset. Overnight camping in the desert or under a starry sky with evening meal and breakfast included.
Erg Chegaga – FoumZguid – Taznakht – Ouarzazate
Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise and climb the dunes of the Sahara Desert for an exceptional opportunity of photos. After breakfast at the bivouac, we will take the desert road to the dry lake of Iriki, then FoumZguid.
Then, Lunch on site. Later, we will head to Taznakht for an optional stop to visit the house of Berber carpets. Before entering Ouarzazate, we will enjoy a visit to the famous Atlas Studio, a beautiful place used for shooting great movies. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Ouarzazate – Telouat Kasbah – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Today, you can enjoy a visit to the city of Ouarzazate known by the door of the Sahara. It’s strange name Ouarzazate means “without noise” in the local Berber language. Visit Kasbah Taourirt, an impressive structure that was built to house hundreds of people. Finally, you can visit Kasbah of Telouat – the real treasures must be excavated and discovered.
After lunch, we will continue to Marrakech via the point of the highest road in Morocco. The Tichka Pass, offering an impressive landscape in the heart of the Atlas Mountains.
