Trip Itinerary:
Marrakech – Rose Valley – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, Dades Gorge
After breakfast, we will leave Marrakech for an adventure through the beautiful Atlas Mountains and the Tichka Pass (2260 m), offering an impressive landscape in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. In Ouarzazate where many films have been filmed like Alexander the Great, The Mummy, the Diamond of the Nile, Kingdom of Heaven Etc … the landscape is absolutely beautiful.
We will stop at the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, one of the most spectacular fortresses in southern Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch in Ouarzazate “Hollywood of Africa”. We continue our journey to the valley of roses known for its annual festival during the harvest of roses in May each year. Spend the night with dinner in the Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes
After breakfast, we will continue our tour to the Todra Gorge where many climbers come to practice their favorite sport. Later, we continue our tour following the ancient Bedouin trade routes going through a series of fortified villages with outstanding pre-Saharan architecture.
The road to Erfoud is one of the most beautiful of all the roads of the South. She is known for its wealth of marble black fossils. We will head to the spectacular dunes of Merzouga where the sand dunes signify the beginning of the mighty Sahara Desert. We will exchange our vehicle with camels for an unforgettable tour in the desert to join the Berber camp. After dinner.
We will gather around the fire and enjoy the night in the desert with traditional Berber songs and drums.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Draa Valley – Zagora
Morning wake up before dawn to enjoy the sunrise from the dunes of the Sahara Desert. Return to the hotel by camels. Shower and breakfast.
Then, departure for Rissani and visit of the city considered the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty which focuses mainly on its market considered the most important in the south. Where many nomads come to shop. We will leave the desert and cross the fascinating arid landscapes. Arrive to Drâa Valley where we will make several stops to enjoy the valley considered the longest in Morocco. Then, we will continue our route to Zagora, rich in production dates, administrative center of the region and the place from where the caravans went to Timbuktu for a long trip of 52 days.
After breakfast at the hotel. You leave Zagora direction Marrakech through the Draa Valley and authentic villages to discover the sites of the Southern region.
