Trip Itinerary:
Marrakech – Beni Mellal – Ait Lahsen – Tourha n’Ait Moussa
Departure towards Fez towards Béni Mellal, fork on the mountain road, lunch in Boumia (grilled meat), continuation to Tounfite on the large plateau of Moulwiya in front of Jebel Ayachi on the north side. Last races before arriving at the camp which will be set up far from the town of Tounfite, at the confluence of the rivers Ait Lahsen, Asengmir and Tourha n’Ait Moussa (1820m), near the Djbel Maaskar snow-covered in winter (3200m). 9h drive.

Aït Lahsen Valley – Tourha n’Aït Bouarbi Valley – Aït Cherrad – Aït Abdelfadel
Direction the mountain Talaat n’Seksou (2130m), an ascent in the morning, followed by a descent to the valley of Bou Isly which joins that of Tougha n’Aït Bou Arbi, through a forest. Arrival at the village of Aït Cherrad, follow the valley of Aït Bou Arbi while climbing slightly the Jebel Tadrart (3235 m). we set up our camp in the Tasflalait valley (1890m). 5h30 walk

Tasflalait Valley – Lougagh villages – Massou (2020m) – Mendaiwar (2100m)
A beautiful stage with the discovery of the villages of the laughing valley of Tasflalait, well populated, irrigated, green, one cultivates there especially potatoes, apple trees, walnut trees, a fertile and rich ground, the Berbers live in particular of it. ‘breeding. All day long we walk through fields, lunch near the village of Massou and overnight near Mendaiwar. 5h30 walk
Taaraart Valley – Iblilou sheepfold
The valley of Taarart narrows more and more, the last village Taarart is at 2200m, 2 hours walk from Jebel Ayachi, the sheepfolds replace the villages, it is cold we are above 2400m, in a narrow wild valley between 3747 m from Jebel Ayachi and 3400m from Jebel Maoutfoud, lunch at the end of the stage. We follow a ridge that goes up by sheepfolds, try to get as close as possible to the summit around 2450m, because on the day of the ascent, we will not have mules, we will be content with a picnic. 4h30 walk

Bergerie Iblilou (2450m) – Ayachi summit (3747m) – Aqua n’Bou Oustour sources (2700m)
The longest and most important day in terms of positive and negative elevations. We do not have a mule track but a ridge, then progress through ravines, on pebbles, a mountain experience is mandatory; the ascent requiring good physical condition (3:30 to 4:30) is optional. From the top, the view is superb over the valleys. After a little rest, we descend easily by a long ridge, to join our mule drivers at the end of the afternoon, enjoying the good hot tea that awaits us on arrival! We set up the camp near the sheepfolds open in summer and autumn (in April, May, snow and cold do not allow the installation of transhumants) … 7 hours of walking.

Aqua n’Bou Oustour – Tadaout n’Oudi – return to the Taarart valley – Tagudit – Tounfite – Marrakech
We descend early in the morning to the Taarart valley, a local van takes us through the Tasflalait and Tag Arabia valleys where our vehicle is waiting for us to take us to Marrakech via Tounfite, Boumia, Beni Mellal. 8h drive.
Maps & Informations
- Portage: For walkers a small backpack for the day’s belongings. Mules are available for carrying luggage.
- Supervision: By a French speaking Moroccan mountain guide assisted by a cook and muleteers.
- Meals: typical Moroccan dishes (tagine, couscous, …). Fresh products and complementary preserves, meat bought in the mountains. Picnic or salads at noon, hot and cooked meal in the evening.
- Climate: dry and hot in spring, cold at night in winter. Thunderstorm possible
- Supervision: Berber guide speaking French and English, cook, mule drivers.
Accommodation: Camping and Local Houses

- A pair of light walking shoes that hold the ankle well.
- A spare pair of shoes and a pair of sandals.

- A sweater or fleece (from October to March) and a lighter one to wear underneath.

- To do this trek, you should be in good physical conditions, but efforts will be rewarded.
- Good walking shoes are mandatory, Sleeping bag.
- To confirm this Trek you need a deposit of 15% before you start and 85% at the start time.
