Mount Toubkal is not the only place in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains to go rock climbing and mountaineering, with other popular areas being the Todra Gorges and the Taghia and Ahansal Region, Or Oukaimden & Imlil Valley.
Toubkal mountains range is a mountain chain of basalts and granite rocks, most of the summits are over 3500m of altitude. The region provides an amazing terrain for rock climbers!
Toubkal is also famous for its series of granite blocks that line the southern side of the valley. These paths offer classic rock routes that range from a few hundred meters to around 500m long.
On the northern side of the valley is the Aguelzim range which is rocky and steep. These reddish gneiss rock walls are at a lower altitude than 3000m and are also more accessible from Toubkal refuge via a series of trails that allow walking to these sites. The style of climbing found here are long & short multi-pitch routes, our team of rock climbing (Mustapha & Youssef…) has prepared many sites and restored all the equipment on August 2021.
