Berber Villages and Atlas Mountains Trek 6 days

A wonderful one-week trek to climb Mt Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain!
​At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal (4167m) is the highest mountain in North Africa. The hike to the summit is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view from he summit makes the hard work worthwhile.
With the start of the trek just a couple of hours drive from Marrakech, you can reach the summit and back within a week and still have time to explore Morocco’s most captivating city, Marrakech.

Itinerary Day per Day:

Day 1: Ourika valley – Setti Fadma (1600 m)– Timichi (2000 m)

Things to see: Berber villages, Atlas Mountains , Berber Culture, Easy Walk.

Positive Climb: 400 m
Negative Climb: 0 m
Accommodation: Berber House

Day 2: Timichi (2000 m) – Iaabassene (2030m) – Tizi n’Tachdirte (3100m) – Tacheddirt (2400 m)

Things to see: Berber villages, Atlas Mountains trek, Tachdirte pass 3100m, Hard Walk.

Positive Climb: 1100 m
Negative Climb: 700 m
Accommodation: Mountain Lodge

Day 3: Tacheddirt (2400 m) – Imnane valley (1800m)  – Agersioual pass (2100 m) – Imlil (1740 m).

Things to see: Berber villages, Atlas Mountains, Nice View from the Mountain Pass, Imlil Valley

Level: Medium Walk.
Negative Climb: 660 m
 Accommodation: Guest House or Riad
Positive Climb: 300 m

Day 4: Imlil (1740 m) – Tizi Mzik (2480 m) – Azib n’Tamsoult (2500m)
Things to see: Berber villages, Atlas Mountains, Nice View from the Mountain Pass, Azzaden Valley, Tamsoult sheep fields
Level: Medium Walk.
Positive Climb: 760 m
Negative Climb: 100 m
Accommodation: Refuge

Day 5: Azib n’Tamsoult – Aguelzim pass (3650 m)– Toubkal refuge (3207 m)

Things to see: Views for the high Atlas Mountains, Nice View from the Mountain Pass over Azzaden Valley,

Negative Climb: 443  m
Accommodation: Refuge

Day 6: Toubkal refuge – Toubkal summit (4167 m) – Armed (2000 m) – Imlil (1740 m)

Before To Go!

  • To do this trek, you should be in good physical conditions, but efforts will be rewarded.
  • Good walking shoes are mandatory, Sleeping bag.
  • To confirm this Trek you need a deposit of 15% before you start and 85% at the start time.
  • Payment: Cash

Meals: typical Moroccan dishes (tagine, couscous, …). Fresh products and complementary preserves, meat bought in the mountains. Picnic or salads at noon, hot and cooked meal in the evening.
Climate: dry and hot in spring, cold at night in winter. Thunderstorm possible
Supervision: Berber guide speaking French and English, cook, mule drivers.
Portage: mules.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Portage: For walkers a small backpack for the day’s belongings. Mules are available for carrying luggage.
  • Supervision: By a French speaking Moroccan mountain guide assisted by a cook and muleteers.
  • Accommodation: Riad Atlas Imlil, Bivouac in a 2-person tent with mattresses, lodgings during the hike.
  • Meals: typical Moroccan dishes (tagine, couscous, …). Fresh products and complementary preserves, meat bought in the mountains. Picnic or salads at noon, hot and cooked meal in the evening.
  • Climate: dry and hot in spring, cold at night in winter. Thunderstorm possible
  • Supervision: Berber guide speaking French and English, cook, mule drivers.

List of equipment to bring back: The weight of your luggage must be limited and contain all of your belongings. A flexible travel bag with side openings or a rucksack without frame, do not bring back rigid bags and suitcases.
