Jbel Lkest Ascent & Region of Tafraout
Culminating at 2539m, Jbel El Kest is one of the emblematic landforms of the Western Anti Atlas. It forms the backbone of the mountain range, bordering the north shore of the famous Ameln Valley. Despite its imposing and abrupt appearance, it is dotted with picturesque Berber villages, where the secular tradition is proudly carried on from father to son. Easily accessible for hikers, this massif is also a site of choice for climbing adventurers, it has a multitude of walls but which are not permanently equipped. Tafraoute is a small Berber-speaking town in the Moroccan Anti-Atlas located 170 km south-east of Agadir in the Souss region in the heart of the Ammelen valley, in the middle of a circus of pink granite rocks at a hundred kilometers south of Taroudant and east of Tiznit.
